Gaetano Salmista's artistic lost-wax foundry Art'u' has been working in the field of lost-wax casting for over 35 years, continuing a family tradition that has been handeddown for three generations.In 2017 Gaetano, winner of the 2009 'Luigi Bellini' and 2010 'Incontri con l'arte', was awarded the title of Master Craftsman by the Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Region of Tuscany. In 2021, he received the position of artistic and traditional metalworking craftsman president for the province of Florence from the CNA, and in the same year he was also recognised as an OMA Craftsman. Over the years, he has taught lost-wax casting techniques, he held courses and workshops at the Porta Romana Art Institute (Florence), Florence Academy of Art (Florence), Casa Benvenuto Cellini (Vicchio del Mugello).The Art'u' artistic foundry offers artistic/technical support based on years of experience and collaboration with leading Italian and international artists. In recent years, Art'u' has opened a section dedicated to Design, providing services and assistance in the design and production of furnishing accessories. The lost wax casting process (both lotus and ceramic) is entrusted to highly qualified personnel, in full respect of the original model and the artist or designer's objective.The negative, the wax, the casting, the bronze chiselling, and the complex patination process are all carefully and professionally followed. We offer transport and installation services on request. Many monumental works have been produced in recent yearsand numerous Italian and foreign customers from all over the world have used our services, such as Carole Feuerman's Perseverance sculpture installed in Venice for the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale 2022.Among the many services we offer are moulding, enlargements, castings in other metals than statuary bronze such as aluminium, creation of works from 3D scanning as well as sculptures in alternative materials, and restoration of works of art. We are able to reproduce contemporary works and works from any historical period, even fromphotos. Our office offers full administrative assistance for international shipments and in recent years our studio has organisedevents and exhibitions in prestigious locations in the Florentine area and in many artistic sites in Italy and around the world. Over the years we have worked for numerous museums and institutions in Florence, Rome, London, Dublin, New York City, Beijing, Stuttgart (GER), Bad Ragaz (SWI) and many others.
